Baptism is like a wedding ring: It’s the outward representation of the commitment you made in your heart to God. Baptism shows that you already believe, but doesn’t make you a believer. Baptism does not “save” you. Only Christ saves you by grace through faith in Him.
Anyone who is a believer in Jesus Christ."Those who accepted His message were baptized."– Acts 2:41
To follow the example set by JESUS CHRIST.
"At that time Jesus came from Nazareth in Galilee and was baptized by John in the Jordan."– Mark 1:9

As soon as you have believed! There is no reason to delay. As soon as you receive Christ into your life, you can -- and should be – baptized. You can be a Christian without being baptized, but you can’t be an obedient Christian without following the Lord in believer’s baptism.
Because JESUS was baptized that way
"As soon as Jesus was baptized, He went up out of the water."– Matthew 3:16
